I chose to describe one of the conclusions of the article Nurses Active Empathetic Listening Behaviors from the Voice of the Patient by Myers et al. The researchers state that good communication in nursing practice is instrumental in creating a positive relationship between a nurse and a patient (Myers et al., 2020). Particularly, the investigators emphasize the importance of listening skills among nurses.

Their studys findings reveal that effective and active empathetic nurse listening skills will influence a positive patient experience (Myers et al., 2020). Given the importance of the researchers argument in this conclusion, there is a need for intensified research on the same topic. Particularly, further studies can add knowledge to the critical component of nurse-patient communication, which is essential in enhancing safety, quality, and patient experience.

I would use the evidence provided in the article to enhance nursing practice by employing empathetic listening skills. This competence will enable me to ensure that I foster a fruitful relationship between myself and the patients that I serve. In addition, I would share the research-based evidence with my peers through social networking sites such as e-mail, Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, YouTube, and LinkedIn. Further, such information can be disseminated via phone, purposeful distribution of pamphlets, and in-person visits. My involvement in applying and communicating nursing research evidence can help achieve three main goals.

First, it can increase my peers ability to implement and use evidence-based information. Second, it can motivate them to acknowledge and implement research-based knowledge. Third, disseminating nursing research results can be essential in improving health-related behaviors/decisions and clinical outcomes. In summary, I believe that communication of research-based evidence plays a significant role in capacity building and skill training in nursing practice.
