Whether a person should be moral or not, is a matter of dispute that many of the writers and thinkers of the world have been asking each other for years. By morality what we mean is that a set of rules passed to us through social and religious experiences which serve to manage our independent actions. But only a single element is enough to turn it into topsy-turvy if he moves away from the way of morality. It is not apt for one to link morality with God because of its attachment. A person doesnt need to be ethical as he is moral. Ethical belief may be the direct effect of the morality of a person and one cant be unethical and moral. So it is inferred that both morality and ethics are complementary and cannot be neglected on personal interest. If one offers his help to someone with the natural inclination, one can regard it as a morally praiseworthy action; but if he waits for his interest, he can never expect help from anyone else. There is a give and take policy regarding morality. All men in the world like to enjoy happiness. This happiness will be moral only when one is inclined to good health and as a duty. A person is valuable not only to himself but also to others and he is the need of society. That is why the moments that he considers disinteresting may be interesting in the public eye. We always want others to show or behave morally, and we never think that we return it simply because we deserve respect and have such values in ourselves.
To conclude one can infer that though morality is personal, it has a wider level of application and why we should be moral should be because, when one lives in the society he ought to abide by some absolute laws, which includes the idea that each person has his ends and hence ought to be respected. The question of interest in it does not arise. Whether one should be moral is the question that is still to be discussed further and it lies in the social relationships and natural feelings and has been connected with the deontological theories. The words of Dostoevskys character Smerdyakov in his The Brothers Karamazov, If God does not exist, everything is permitted are notable and it shows how a man should be if he is allowed complete freedom to whatever things he desires. So, one should try to be moral, even though he is not interested to do so.
