It is important to note that the story of Job in the Book of Job is a prime biblical reflection on the concept of suffering and the test of faith. One of the key elements of the story revolves around God allowing Satan to act as an agent of assessing Jobs faith. Job lost his possessions, children, and health suffering a physical agony, which was followed by his friends attacks on him being a transgressor, where Job converses with God about undeserved suffering.

The story of Job is among highly interesting and relevant demonstrations of suffering and faith, which is even more applicable in modern times. Technology and science allow humans to lead significantly more comfortable lives compared to their ancestors, which makes people dependent on their possessions. Having a child under the current economic conditions is an expensive endeavor, which requires a substantial investment. The diseases that kill most human beings are chronic issues due to food abundances, such as diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular diseases, or cancer. However, God explains that humans cannot understand the complexity of the universe, and the latter does not operate in a retributive form (Mackie, 2018). Thus, Jobs story reflects the three most valued aspects of human life even today, where their loss can be seen as excessive suffering.

In conclusion, the assumption was that Jobs devout worship of God was due to his prosperity rather than pure faith, which is why he was tested. It should be noted that good people can undergo suffering for seemingly no reason, and the world is not just because ultimate justice is reserved for the Day of Judgement. Therefore, one should focus on enduring the suffering and remaining faithful since the universe is not retributive, and God uses these moments to test a person.
