A network analyzer is a device that measures electrical networks and network parameters. Analyzers usually measure S-parameters, but there are other sets of settings, such as Y-parameters, Z-parameters, and H-parameters (What is a vector network analyzer, VNA: The basics, 2019). Different types of devices can be described by the incident and reflected waves propagating in the transmission lines. The relationship between these waves is defined by the Scattering wave matrix or the S-parameter matrix.

Network analyzers are often used to characterize two circuit ports, such as amplifiers and filters, but they can be used in circuits with an arbitrary number of ports. Recently, there has been a shift from traditional means of accounting and measurement to multifunctional quantizing measuring instruments such as a network analyzer (Network analyzers, 2019). These devices are capable of simultaneously analyzing dozens of electrical quantities and parameters of energy networks characterizing the processes of production, distribution, and consumption of electrical energy in real-time.

When the device is started, initialization commands are executed that provide the necessary initial configuration of all its nodes. Then, in a cycle, actions are taken to determine the network parameters. At the beginning of the cycle, the effective voltage value is calculated. If the content of this register is 0, then this indicates that the test probes are not connected to the network or there is no voltage and that only current can be calculated if the clamps are combined (What is a vector network analyzer, VNA: The basics, 2019).

If the contents of the register are other than 0, then this content is written in three temporary entries. Next, the contents of the temporary registers are multiplied by a coefficient, which is necessary to convert the voltage to volts (What is a vector network analyzer, VNA: The basics, 2019). The scope of the developed single-phase power factor meter is energy audit, installation, and commissioning, assessment of the quality of consumed electric energy.
