In the past, suburban bedroom communities were considered the future as they could provide vast opportunities for households to improve the quality of housing. However, as time went on, most of such communities depended significantly on the constant changes in the private housing market. Thus, weaknesses in the bedroom suburbs have appeared as they began to age, contributing to the deterioration of different scales and paces. Several environmental issues may affect the residents of suburban bedroom communities; namely, the lack of financial investment has led to the shortening of the lives of buildings, leading to further wasted resources and reduced life quality. In addition, geographic areas with severe issues expand, increasing avoidance of residential location decisions. As more and more people choose to avoid these areas, special patterns are created, thus wasting resources and increasing environmental deterioration.

In the reduced quality of the environment, the stakeholders are less likely to have positive experiences with natural resources, such as lakes, rivers, forests, parks, and so on. Besides, there is an increased risk of having to deal with the housing of lower quality, which is accompanied by poor quality air in the form of dust, low-quality water, inadequate air recuperation, and so on (Bogost, 2020). Therefore, the combination of poor environmental factors that affect a person both inside their home and outside contribute to inadequate living conditions. The leading potential solution, in this case, is increasing investment into the area through local businesses and housing improvement companies that can help address the challenges of poor-quality housing. Therefore, significant investment is needed since the problem with suburban bedroom communities is concerned with the deteriorating quality of housing and limited natural resources for interaction.
