As the matter of fact, registered nurses are needed on the job market. There are a couple of reasons for it; however, the following ones seem to affect the nurses work significantly, namely the increase of the need for the patient care and decrease of the comfort in the workplace. The quality of care provided by nurses is related to the experience and skills of the workers. The challenges that the medical institutions are facing now is the result of the increasing need for the nurses. It motivated the legislatures to develop a set of measures to improve the staffing. The main purpose of the paper is to discuss the nurse-patient ratios as the aspect for the concern and highlight the reasons elder people are at the highest risk for tuberculosis.

The major disadvantage of the applied system is that the health care providers should increase the number of registered nurses without raising the compensation. To deal with the problem, hospitals usually decrease the number of assistants to compensate the imbalance. This issue contributes to the problem because nurses should be responsible for the job of other people who was fired because of lack of the reimbursement (Penner, 2013). Finding an optimal solution will contribute to the positive patient outcomes. The adequate staffing should become the primary concern as it will eliminate the nurses fatigue and will provide the solution for the following issues, namely the nurses fatigue, improvement of the satisfaction of clients, decrease the lethal outcomes, and decrease of the medical mistakes.

Tuberculosis is one of the infectious diseases that can lead to the mortal consequences. According to the reports of the World Health Organization, almost one-third of the population in the world is infected (Jackson, Jansen, & Mangoni, 2009). Aged people are at the highest risk to be infected and to die from tuberculosis. The major problem is that the disease is often confused with another issue related to the age. Tuberculosis in elderly does not have common symptoms while they are atypical. The process of diagnosing the tuberculosis is complicated, and that is, sometimes it can be discovered only after autopsy. However, even if the diagnosis is set, the treatment process usually is challenging as the elderly face contradictory drug reaction. The health care providers should keep in mind that polypharmacy should be omitted in the case of treating tuberculosis in aged people. Some patient could have the latent form of the disease that in years transforms to an active phase. Another aspect that makes elderly to be in the group of risk is the active usage of tobacco, poor life conditions, not attendance of the medical institutions, and previous disease.

In conclusion, it should be pointed out that the question regarding the role of the registered nurses in the medical establishments seems to be actual. The staffing ratios are the reason for concern as the hospitals are affected in a negative way with the lack of the registered nurses and reimbursement. The issue demands urgent actions while financial issues should not be an obstacle for the clients to get highly professional care. The reason elder people have greater chances to suffer from the tuberculosis is that the vast majority of aged people have respiratory symptoms, and, in addition, live in the conditions that can hide the true nature of the health-related problems. The researches prove that a lot of elderly die from the uncured and undiagnosed disease. The sphere of the health care should receive the priority and such cases will be eliminated.
